Drones on Atlantis

Crewman47

In the early years of Atlantis how is it that all the Puddle Jumpers they had on base seemed to have an endless number of Drones at there disposal, also with there being a good 20 or 30 Jumpers, but yet never thought to use the drones on the jumpers for the chair weapon? Were the Jumper drones of a different configuration to the Base drones?

Jumper drones seem to be smaller than the chair ones, kind of a derivative.

Either that or thier explosive potential depends on how much energy the launcher put into them.

Powered off Jumper power = Drone not too powerful, can penetrate some shields, not Wraith Shields, not a big 'splosion.

Powered off ZPM in base or Battleship Power and controlled by chair = Godless killing machine capable of going through a lot of different shields and blowing up really good!!!

It's not like the jumpers were called upon to fires reams of drones all that often, you know. IMO it was more about it hanging over everyone's heads that they had a finite supply to begin with, and that they couldn't count on always having them (even though in general they had enough for whatever attack was occuring at the time). Atlantis itself had only so many drones, but they still came upon additionals every once in a while.
