Dragonball Trailer

Yeah-suprisingly, the low-budget unofficial live-action movie from about a decade ago looked more faithful to the characters and 'look' of the series.

BTW technically, this is the 20th or so Dragonball movie (But the first 'official' live-action). There's almost been as many as James Bond!

Well, considering that I know nothing about the franchise, the trailer looked more like a reboot of Mortal Kombat than anything else.

That looks awful, this is one franchise that just can't be translated well into live action.

They pulled it off youtube....

I think Dragonball should be a light hearted movie for it's base with mortal jeopardy added in as needed.

Well, it looks about as bad as I expected it to be... I'll wait for the reboot :p

Reboot?

"People need dramatic examples to shake them out of apathy and I can't do that as Son Goku. As a man I'm flesh and blood, I can be ignored I can be destroyed. But with seven balls, will seven balls I can be incorruptible, I can be everlasting."

I honestly know nothing of Dragonball. However, that has never stopped from me from trying things before. Upon viewing this trailer I'll pass. It looks very mediocore at best. If I try it it'll be on Netflix some time down the line.

Oh man, this looks hilariously awful.

If under 10, you'll see it, and like it.

If you're over 20, you'll see it, remember the show, and drink until you like it. At least, that's my plan. :)

Good God. The Saturday mornings of my childhood mourn. This looks just apocalyptically bad.

I'm talking 'Super Mario Bros. The Movie' bad.

Whither John Leguizamo?

:rommie:

I never thought I'd say this but I feel like my childhood has been raped.

To be fair, making a Dragonball movie truly based on the original material would cost a lot. That world is simply too different than our own. I guess they tried to mix our world with the Dragonball story.

The fighting sequences look like they've been heavily toned down.

And they didn't forget the product placement

Now that you mention it... I agree.

That looks awful, this is one franchise that just can't be translated well into live action.
I thought they did a pretty good job in the Matrix sequels.
I always said after watching Matrix Revolutions at the theater that the Wachowski brothers should make an excellent Dragonball live action :D

it'll only work if it has a naked bulma
Yes, it ain't good if Bulma doesn't get naked!

With all the advancements in CG you would have thought they could set it somewhere other than "present day"

And since when was Bulma a gunmage...

Not only the CGi advancements but the reported $100 Million budget should have looked less cheap then this.
