Anyone here been watching Downton Abbey?
I must admit I was a bit worried, when I heard ITV where making a costume drama, I had a vision Of Billy Pipper's Mansfield park in my head.
But I really enjoyed it ,Can't help wondering how many of the men will make it though WW1.
I have to say I feel more sorry for Lady Edith Crawley Than Lady Mary.

I really enjoyed it! Maggie Smith and Penelope Wilton are such a joy to watch. I feel sorry for Edith too - but then she should never have stooped to her sister's level of bitchiness! At least Thomas will be 'entertaining' the troops during WW1 ;)

I haven't seen Downton Abbey, but I'm sure I'll catch it at some point as Gosford Park is one of my favourite films.

The Mrs is a huge fan and dragged me in. Maggie Smith is just excellent, her snarky remarks make the show.

The only thing I did not like about, is how they Jumped from 1912 to 1914.
To me it did not feel like any time had past.
I did not realised that they had jumped years, until Mr bates said in the penultimate episode that he had been there for two years.

They've renewed it for a second series. I think it was said it's one of their most expensive dramas in years.

I saw the first episode but have had so much stuff to catch up on I ended up deleting it off my list. Seemed OK from the first episode but didn't really grab me enough to keep me watching ahead of everything else I had to watch.
