NASA says its a new meteor shower, possibly visible in Northern & Central America & that it "could" be prolific. :bolian:

Which means it "could" be a bust and we all stayed up to 4 am for no good reason. ;)

NASA is running a live web chat from 11 pm to 3 am (the shower is expected 2-4 am Eastern Daylight Savings time. In the US it will be seen best east of the Mississippi or in California.

(Cloud cover will screw it up for the Mid West. So sorry. :sigh: )

Start loading up on caffeine while you have the chance. (or go to bed now and set the alarm for 2 am. :rommie: )

Cloud cover in the Pacific Northwest is pretty much putting me to bed early too.

    Boo!

What a bust!!!! I have seen dozens of meteor showers and this was not a shower here in Florida. I saw about 6-8 over a 3 hour period (12 AM to 3 AM) which really is about what you would expect for a sporadic rate of meteors. I will say that about 4-5 seemed to be coming from the radiant point. We saw only 1 really good one with a train but the night was a major disappointment.

    Any one else?

Alas I had cloud cover issues too. Gave up by 1:30. :brickwall:

On the bright side, I watched a lot of "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" while waiting for the skies to (not) clear.
