Donna's new self

did donna inherit the doc's regeneration or did doc 2 inherit donna's mortality? also, doesn't that mean that donna is no longer human biologically? there are certain genetic changes in her? what does that really mean for her mortality?

the Doctor 10b (for want of a better phrase) got more of Donna, Donna just got a Time Lords mind, which the Doc took away from her in the end, so I assume she is just a regular human now, only with a gap in her memory.

oh i thought that she was changed body and mind to be part time lord. >_<

A gap in her memory she no doubt attributes to too many Barcardi Breezers.

Makes me sad every time I think about it.

I know, only a fictional character, but...

I don't know if even that would account for that big of a memory gap! How long was she traveling with him, several months at least? Plus all her clothing is still on the TARDIS, unless the Doctor packed her things for her. Then there would be the gap in the date from when she left til she returned, all her friends would be asking where she was, etc. The only way this memory purge is going to work is if Donna is completely shielded from the world. And what if she happened to run into Martha, Jack, or Sara-Jane? They don't know her memory has been purged. I don't see how something like that can be made to work.

None of that will matter. Given the casual ease with which Rose's Twagic Angst (TM) departure was undone ("She can Never Ever return! Oh look, she returned after all!! And she gets her very own Doctor Lite to live happily ever after with!!!), Donna's will probably get the same treatment soon enough.

I don't watch new Who regularly, so I've only seen one ep with Donna, the Pompeii one (because I love Pompeii, even been there). In that ep she just seemed so intolerably sanctimonious ("Screw history, save them!"). Was that ep typical of her? I can't understand why she's so popular.

That's why she's popular!

She's popular because she's not in love with the Doctor (well not in that way) doesn't moon over the Doctor, doesn't take any shit from the Doctor, isn't arogant like later Rose, or simmperingly lovesick like Martha.

And she's a redheaded MILF with Bernard Cribbens for a Granddad!! What's not to love!

McCoy, when you watch the arc her character's on, and some of the little things she does, she becomes brilliant. She gives the Doctor a deeper humanity, like in the scene where he saves the family at the end of Pompeii.

Watch her in Runaway Bride first, then S4 in order, you'll be surprised.

In what way? Personality wise, very different. Popularity wise, Donna came from a long way behind to warrant the term 'beloved'. Catharine Tate's comedy is mostly dire, but her dramatic chops are quite surprising. It's a journey worth taking, especially when you see wghat happens to her in the season finale.

Yeah, the best comparison for Donna Noble is Tegan Jovanka. In fact, it was that very comparison that Starkers made way back before season 4 started that made me more open to the idea of her returning and giving her a chance. With that perspective in mind, I found myself loving Donna during season 4.

Hm...I should rewatch "The Runaway Bride" and see how I feel about her in that story now.

Too bad, I never saw Tegan. Can't make the connection. But perhaps I will try watching more of Donna, in order as suggested.
