Dominion War on DVD?

Hey guys, new here, and somewhat new to Deep Space Nine. I never watched it as faithfully as VOY and TNG because I got into Trek immediately after it was over and wasn't playing. But anyway, after numerous Star Trek games (Bridge Commander Kobayashimaru!), catching a few scattered episodes on SPIKE, and watching the youtube collections of the "edited" war chapters, I was wondering which of the seasons would be best to order for the DVD. I may eventually get all Dominion War seasons, but money only permits one in the near future...

I hear the climax of the Dominion Cold War, and the official War outbreak happens in Season 5, with the war lasting the final two seasons... correct?

I'd have to say that Season 6 is probably the best one to get if it's the Dominion War specifically that you want to see, if only for Favor the Bold/Sacrifice of Angels.

While the war did carry through the end of Season 7, it didn't change dramatically from from the groundwork laid in Season 6.

And order from Amazon. The sets are only around $50~ now (free shipping) and around a month ago, they have TNG and DS9 sets on sale for $35~.

I would have to say Season 6, It also has some of my all time fav DS9 episodes

Although it contains no action whatsoever, the best Dominion War episode is "In the Pale Moonlight" which is in the middle of season six.

I'd go season 6 for Dominion war episodes. You'll be missing a lot by not viewing the earlier seasons.

If I were you I'd just rent the series out and then decide if you want to buy a full season or not and which season it should be.

Season 4 has a couple of Dominion episodes but it barely does anything with the Dominion aside from those. That season is mostly about Klingons.

Season 5 barely has any Dominion War in it other than a couple in the middle of the season and in the very last two episodes of the season (which are all amazing episodes btw ).


Either Season 6 or Season 7 is a great choice. They are the ones that give you the most bang for your buck in terms of amount and quality of Dominion content in them.

I'd advise to start with Season 6 since it comes before 7 and you'll appreciate what's going on in 7 a lot more if you've seen 6 first. Plus Season 6 has hands-down the best episode ever of Trek, In the Pale Moonlight.
