Dollhouse Fates, Who People Are, And so on *Spoilers*

StarshipDefiant

Captain
Captain
Warning, spoilers for season one and two. Also, please forgive me, but I couldn't think of a better title.

I was thinking of some things in the last couple days and wondered what others had in mind (for this or anything else),

One, who do you think Whiskey's original personality was?

Two, does anyone think that Boyd let it slip in "Vows" (2x01) who he really was? When Claire Saunders (Whiskey) and Boyd were in a conversation about surgical repairs of her face and being forced to be an active again, Boyd says "There is no way on Earth, that I would allow it" and Claire says "What if she went over your head?" Boyd's response is "I'm very tall" So, is that a slip or a hint of who he really is?

I think it was supposed to be a hint - I'd forgotten about that until your mentioning it just now.

So long as we're talking about Dollhouse, I've seen all the episodes except for "Vows" & "Epitaph Two." I gather there was a lot that happened with Whiskey/Dr. Saunders in "Vows," so that may be where my answer lies. My question: Did we ever get an answer when Dr. Saunders asked Topher why he programmed her to hate him in "Omega"?

Yes, in "Vows"m I can post the answer if you don't want to wait.

Eh, go ahead. Why not? Since I've already seen nearly everything post-"Vows," I don't see how it'll do any harm. (Plus, I'm so far behind on my DVDs and so short on funds, Dollhouse Season 2 isn't really a priority.)

But for the regard of others, perhaps post it in spoiler code.

Yeah, good idea

It is her own doing, in "Vows", Topher explains to Claire that Alphas attack left Whiskey damaged and the original Dr. Saunders dead. With this (upon DeWitts orders), he programmed Whiskey to be a long term engagement as Claire Saunders, but made a fewl alterations (then DeWitt intended apparently) so that Claire would have her own set of beliefs and be willing to fight for them. Basically, Topher made it so that she would disagree with what he said so no one would get hurt as he felt that the two agreeing on everything, somewhere, they'd miss something and "someone would get hurt" He also made so that she couldn't stand his natural smell, so that the two wouldn't end up close (Topher specified that was the contract, but didn't go further then that), from there Claire developed the hatred for Topher on her own. Topher even seemed to express a sort of regret or disbelief over this, but specified that this was done for the protection of the actives and that he was making a person, not machine.

Ah.
Interesting, although I suppose not Earth-shattering. I had wondered whether or not Topher had a relationship with Whiskey's original, pre-Doll personality.

There's speculation by some that Whiskey's original self was his sister, but others say it doesn't pan out for a wide range of reasons. He may have not actually have known her at all, and by "contract" he meant his or an actives contract stipulates that they cant 'develop' something even in her unique situation, because shes an active and hes not, or something like that.
