Does Janeway's Spirit Animal being a Lizard foreshadow her eventual evolution?

So we all know Janeway eventually evolves into an amphibious lizard creature. Were the writers foreshadowing this when they made Janeway's spirit animal be a tokay gecko? It seems an interesting choice for a spirit animal, most of the time fiction wants to give people really cool animals like owls or panthers. I have never understood what Janeway's gecko really offers her, though I think Janeway is very good at crouching down and listening to the smallest voice, whether it's a crew member or an alien encounter. She likes to see the unseen and hear the unheard. Perhaps that's why the gecko chose her.

No, they were not. The writers of "Caretaker" had no idea there was going to be an episode many seasons later where Janeway was turned into a salamander. Not to mention that geckos are lizards and salamanders are amphibians.

No, since the events in Threshold actually was a nightmare Tom Paris had after eating too much of Neelix's food one evening before going to sleep.

What strikes me as even more odd is that Chakotay's spirit animal often was described in the Voyager books as a wolf or a bear (it was never clearly described if it was a wolf or bear, just a furry mammal).

But in the book Pathways, Chakotay's spirit animal is revealed as a snake!

Oh come on now, Jeri Taylor! As an author yourself, you should at least have had some knowledge about what was going on in the books written by your author colleagues.

As it is now, I either have to skipp lots of pages in the books where Chakotay's spirit animal is described as a mammal, wolf or bear.

Or I have to skip the whole chapter in Pathways in which the spirit animal is described as a snake.

So far I haven't decided what will be the canon for the Lynxverse but I think that I will go for the bear.

Well, Tom started evolving first, but we never saw his spirit animal, did we?

Wouldn't be surprised to learn his was a Chevy '57 or some such thing. (Chakotay: that's not an animal! Tom: so what? it's my vision quest!)

Harry: What’s a B-127?

Tom: A character in a movie franchise. Very popular at the time. A small but incredibly resilient robot car.

Harry: Robot car?

Tom: Transformers.

Harry: Now I’m confused.

Janeway: This all sounds very interesting gentlemen but we are about to go to warp. Save the robot cars discussion for the mess hall.

Janeway experienced more evolution in a day than most characters do over the course of their lives.
It's true. Janeway and Paris went full amphibian, while Deanna only de-evolved halfway there.

It does raise the question as to whether Deanna's ancestors and descendants are both destined to become amphibians, but I'll leave that to future philosophers.

A hybrid creature? An entirely new species?
