I could have sworn there was someone named Rebecca in his family, though. Could be wrong.
Simple as that.
Honestly, the name of Eddington's deceased wife never once came to mind to me, but I'm sure she wasn't the first or will be the last person to ever be named Rebecca.
I bet if he'd tried to give her a Bajoran name Kasidy would have baulked.
Is it really? Seems quite conventional to name your kids after your parents. Although in this case it's a bit different since she vanished after realizing she'd been possessed by backwater aliens posing as gods..
Um...no. The Prophet-possessed woman was the one who gave birth to Ben. It was a woman who was NOT possessed who married Joseph Sisko and raised Ben.
Judith was the woman Ben called Mama as he grew. Sarah was the woman who gave him birth.
^ Judith was his sister. Sisko's step-mother was never named in the series; her name was established in the novels.

Love aside, it seems strange that Kas would have married into the web of the Prophets, she'd been around for Rapture and Far Beyond the stars. She knew they would make Sisko lose his mind on occasion and when they flat out warned him to stay away from her, she should've ran. Considering the sorrow it did cause, she lead with her heart too much.
If you love someone, it's better to spend the time with them you can, then to regret never having that time. Sure, losing them is hard, but, not harder then never having them
