Does anyone know the logic behind Syfy's daytime blocks?

I've been trying to figure this out and I'm stumped.

It seems to me if they showed a variety of programs at the same time every day they might get some people to tune in from time to time or to set their DVR's.

Instead they show seemingly random blocks of the same episode. So unless you check the schedule every day you don't know if there's a program you want to watch. Even if there is you usually can only catch one or two unless you have a DVR with a large amount of space. Then they don't show enough episodes to really follow a series so if you are interested in the series you might not watch because they won't show the whole thing.

What is the advantage of doing these things? I can't figure it out.

It seems to me whenever I am turning to it, they seem to be airing their recent original series or their godawful movies made on a shoestring budget.

^Beat me to it.

I would venture that logic has little to do with any programming and/or scheduling done on SyFy.

Fortunately, I do have a dvr with some space, as I tend to delete things after watching them. I just told it to record all Dr. Who episodes and I’ll delete them (if I’ve seen them) or (re)watch them before deleting.

Oops! Is that Spike? I’m not paying a lot of attention to the channel, just the show. Heck, I don’t even know the channel numbers now that we have directv.

If it's Dr. Who - that's BBC America (Channel 264 on my DirecTV guide)

There used to be a rhyme to their daytime blocks- themed days and longer hours. Hero Tuesday used to have things like Wonder Woman or Hercules and such. It used to run from like 7 or 8 a.m. to 5 or 6. Now it seems to be totally random in what blocks they show- unless they are promoting an original series with the airings, and it only lasts sometimes to 3 or 4 when regular program hours kicks in. Go figure. I miss the days of the animation station in the morning, followed by Dark Shadows, then an afternoon movie and back to back eps of a good old show. Before Merlin Season 2 was on 'Syfy' I hadn't watched it in years. Every so often I would try and tune in for the TNG Mondays, but they ditched that and when i read the ep descriptions, it always seemed to be the same ones. Hmph.
