Does anybody still make physical models anymore?

The Romulan BoP was very recently re=released. I never had the original kit from back in the day, but it seems that in addition to the over-sized spherical forward ends to the engine nacelles, there are also clear hemispherical domes to make that particular part more screen accurate. The outer rim is still straight up and down and will need some love to replicate the angle of Wah Chang's original. The decal sheet may be more accurate, I don't know what all was on the original one. If it was basically just a larger version of the art for the 3-piece adversary set (which I suspect), then this is different in that it includes the markings for the upper wing surfaces and the fin. Also provided are a few different display options, the vintage stand, a classier stand which seems to be the current standard (shallow black dome with a metal rod) and a little knob to wind string around if you want to hang it from the ceiling.

Also re-released is the Klingon BoP, but I haven't purchased the new version and I'm not certain there are any changes at all. Though I'd be curious if anyone knows.

Al-Pharazon - it was more than a paint-scheme, it's 'skinned' neutronium armor from the Doomsday Machine. Applied a lot of the TOS canon backstory about that and some other features of the ship. Glad you like the paint either way.

The RBOP is the oldie (have one of the original kits as a buildup), and was just released in the last month. Will get some pictures up on my website soon. Pretty much tore out the side-rim of the hull and extended it to the rear, more tapered, based on the blueprints I have. Go the sticky about LCARS blueprints, you'll find them on their website. Putting in all the detail and lighting with LEDs.

I basically put a 3/32" square piece around the top and made a new outer edge with thin ABS plastic.

I don't know if I still have the original pics, but I never got past that point in the assembly, so I could take new pics.

Go get it! They've added metal landing gear and a boarding ramp (and associated recesses in the belly), and retooled the wings for the "full up" position.

It was the other way around. The decals in the three ship set were miniaturized versions of the full sized decals.

Well, that is an improvement. :techman:

Oh really? That's awesome! I think I'll go get one today! Thanks for the heads up! A landed ship would make a great diorama...

Yeah, I know there are more guys from SSM here I just don't keep an inventory.

My modeling activities lately seem to consist of tracking down kits on eBay, to replenish the stock, and repairing the models I've got left. Over the past few days, I've fixed a pre-Generations Enterprise-B (i.e., straight Excelsior with E-B markings), and an old 18" Enterprise. Next patient will probably be my poor bedraggled Stargazer.

I have a tonne of models. Some are posted in Trek art somewhere. Some Romulan battle cruisers from TOS and kitbashed Excelsior... I like lighting them and taking pics. How different coloured lights play on the paint is always interesting.
