Doctor Who on Children in Need SPOLIERS

Matt and Karen appeared as themselves with Matt in costume on the Tardis set at this year's BBC Children in Need. They greeted a couple of young fans who had suffered from meningitis when they were younger, and treated them to afternoon tea. I found it a little bit awkward for the adults, who I thought did a sterling job of being themselves and kind of being their characters. Interesting to hear Matt refer to the Doctor in the third person.

Long trailer for the Christmas episode, too! :) SPOILERS (which I obviously couldn't spell in the thread title!)

Here's the clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJCiXMDXbtc

I prefered it actually, a trailer gives you the feel for a story, pre crdits is just a bit of a story with no context.

It worked with The Next Doctor because RTD wrote the story so that the "mystery" was introduced in the pre-credits, so it worked as a teaser. More importantly, it featured the Doctor. If A Christmas Carol opens up with some scene that doesn't involve the Doctor (sort of like the last Dickens-related Christmas episode, The Unquiet Dead) it wouldn't work as a preview because people would be disappointed at not seeing the Doctor.

In which case they could have just used the first scene in the episode to feature the Doctor, like they did last year with their preview for The End of Time.

Surely the whole point of giving a scene to Children in Need was to get people watching and donating? This was just an ad - the kind of thing they'll be running as it comes up to Christmas anyway. Quite disappointing. Let's try not to think of the needy children who may suffer because of those who didn't feel compelled to give, having been cheated out of a proper preview of the Christmas episode.

Yes. It is good that Matt and Kaz put the effort in, even while Moffat and the rest of the Who production team turned their back on the needy children.

USS Bones lol I think your posting is going slightly over the top.

Not filming a mini episode is in no way the same as turning your back on needy children, for all we know they all donated an amount in another fashion, do we know Matt & Karen actually donated any money to Children in Need?

People really shouldnt critise people for not donating, if they didnt donate themselves.
