Doctor Who makes The Australian

That was a nice write-up. The heart of the writer is in it, for certain, even if he does misquote The Doctor a few times... :techman:

Nice write up. The journalist seems to have a genuine soft spot for the Doctor. I thought the Barcelona comment was a reference to the Doctor's words when he regenerated; I missed the Fawlty Towers reference. (Actually, I'm getting old. I watch tv these days, and even in stuff I love, like Who, I miss loads of stuff people are talking about here on the bbs.)

Let's hope the ratings tonight are good as that episode is awesome. I found myself quoting parts of it. Nice article too.

Haha! Just noticed the journalist is the Australian actor, now also writer, Graeme Blundell. In Australia, he's probably best known for being the very naked, very controversial "Alvin Purple" in the 70s. The local hit motion pictures "Alvin Purple, "Alvin Rides Again", a highly shocking TV spin-off, and then a reunion sequel movie, "Melvin, Son of Alvin".

Oh. Don't take me as gospel on this, but I have a feeling he is/was Katy Manning's other half during much of her time in Australia.

Edit: sorry, I'm wrong. Though she did appear in one of the Alvin Purple films, her other half is Barry Crocker, who played a similar-ish role in the Barry McKenzie films.

And here is why replying to TWO YEAR OLD threads is a pain in the ass. Here I was expecting to see an article on the current series, and until I noticed the date I thought they'd screwed up big time with the photo they chose.
