Doctor Who in other media

I watch the new show, collect DVDs for the classic series but I've never listened to any of the audios or bought any of the novels. But then again the audios and novels aren't available here. I could probably order them online but they're not in the stores.

Your location says London, Canada, which I assume is the one in Ontario (my wife's hometown), so try either Chapters there. I just tried searching for one relatively recent Who novel, The Eyeless by Lance Parkin, on the Chapters website, and they both have it in stock. Chances are they have a few others as well.

Very hit and miss. Due to fluctuations with the Canadian dollar and uncertainties over customs duties and imports, I find a lot of these places either won't ship to Canada or will slap some sort of "import processing fee" on the orders.

That's not my experience at all. I've placed dozens of orders with WhoNA over the last eight years, and at least a couple with Mike's Comics (their refusal to do credit card transactions online is why I never used them regularly). The shipping is a bit expensive, but that doesn't appear to be a markup issue.
Mike's Comics charges things to my credit card all the time! :borg:

I've read 8 of the "10th Doctor" Who books, and they've been okay enough.

After trying out a free Big Finish audio download from DW magazine, I decided to try out some of their CDs. I bought the first two releases in the Gallifrey series and thought they were okay but not really worth buying more of for the price.

But with the Gallifrey CDs I had also ordered Doctor Who: Unbound - Masters of War and I thought it was one of the best Who adventures ever. It had a great sounding Doctor (David Warner), The Brigadier! and the daleks. I highly recommend this one.

Do they do online transactions now? When I ordered Blake's 7 audios from them a couple years ago I paid by credit card, but I had the choice of emailing them my credit card info or phoning them, rather than doing a secure online transaction. Has that changed?

Nope, same procedure. You can order from them with a credit card, though - and I've never had anything but amazing service from them.

Yeah, Clay's right-- I called in my credit card number to them, and they keep it on file so I can just e-mail in orders whenever I want something new.

I think have around 50 or 60 of the Target novelizations, with most of them dealing with Doctors Four through Seven, plus a few standalones featuring the first three Doctors and a couple of original BBC novels with the Eighth Doctor (really haven't been following them since the switch to hardbacks with the Ninth Doctor though).

Before VCRs--much less DVD players--were easily available, those Target books were the next best thing to owning complete adventures (my books were arranged according to broadcast order and there was something of a continuity to them when read that way as quite a few featured companions coming/going and Doctors regenerating).

The last book in my collection is actually The Eight Doctors, which was an appropriate point to end it at the time...
