Contest: ENTER Doctor Who Avatar Contest: If the Classic Whovian Hat Fits, Wear It!

Greeting, Whovians! The last contest was a very close call, and I appreciate the votes. :) So now it's my turn...

I have no idea if this theme has been done before (we really need an updated master list like Miscellaneous has), but let's give it a go anyway.

Easter is coming up soonish, which made me think of bonnets. Well, I don't remember many Who characters wearing bonnets, but they sure wore a lot of hats.

Therefore: This avatar contest is dedicated to CLASSIC ERA HATS! Hats worn by the Doctor, Companions, guest characters... heck, even K-9 wore a hat in one episode I can think of.

Standard rules: 200x200 px, no more than 1Mb.

Timewalker's rules:

1. Avatars are to be of the CLASSIC era: Hartnell through McGann. Post-McGann crossovers do not count as being of the Classic Era.

2. No animated avatars, please.

3. Crowns, tiaras, hair ribbons, ear muffs, etc. are not hats by themselves unless they also have a fabric component that covers the head in some way.

4. To give people a fair crack at certain characters, no more than 1 entry per specific character. For instance, you may enter two different Doctors, but not two of the same Doctor (or companion, or guest character). This applies to other regenerated Gallifreyan characters, like the Master or Romana.

5. Enter as often as you wish, keeping Rule #4 in mind.

Deadline: March 31st or thereabouts.

My entries:

1. Third Doctor (very fetching in his shower cap):

2. Harry Sullivan (looking dapper as he goes undercover in Robot)

3. Andred (utterly befuddled at being offered a jelly baby):

4. Romana I (Androids of Tara; I used to have a hat similar to this, but with a purple ribbon)

5. Fifth Doctor

Sorry, no animated avatars (rule #2). Can you find a still photo?

I believe they're straightforward.

1. Classic Era.

2. Non-animated.

3. Clarification of what constitutes a hat, to make sure everyone's on the same page.

4. Not more than one avatar of the same character per entry.

I never said "not straightforward", I said "too many". 2 and 4 are a bit overboard IMO, but it's your gig man.

Did you change the rules retroactively? Fine.

:vulcan: First of all, I ALWAYS state non-animated avatars in any avatar contest I host. It doesn't matter which forum it's in.

:vulcan: Second of all, I had some technical difficulty with the OP and while you were entering, I was trying to get my own entries lined up properly instead of in a jumbled mess. I had no idea what your entry would be at the time I typed the OP. So no "retroactive" rule change happened at all.

For #2, see the explanation above.

For #4, it's to prevent everyone from posting the same character multiple times. Otherwise, we could end up with one person posting multiple avatars of Tom Baker in different hats, effectively shutting out anyone else who might want to post one of Tom Baker. I had another one of Harry Sullivan I would have liked to post as well, but I followed my own rule and picked one. The other is now free for someone else to use if they happen to like Harry Sullivan.

5. Please ensure all entries are at least 2 metres apart.
I don't have a large enough computer for that. You're all going to have to take your chances. Besides, I'm sure most of these characters were light-years and centuries apart when some of the photos were taken.

6. Please wash your hands after touching your computer.
Good advice at any time.

7. No avatars of Mel Bush
I don't remember if she wore a hat in any stories but if she did, she's eligible.

Classic WHO had a share of characters with entries for "most bizarre hat" award entries. "Castrovalva" even took a gamble that such a contest would be made one day...

There's still time to enter, folks. It may look like a lot of entries, but there are only 3 people in this contest so far. I won't be putting up the poll until at least tomorrow. Just remember - no animated ones, please.

Okay, I think last call has been up for a really generous amount of time, so I will declare entries closed. The voting thread will be up later today.
