We have finally gotten an official name to the JJ trek or NU trek as most of all used to call it, Now that a name is official would you like to see novels about the kelvin universe and if there are novels will you read them?

I don't really want to read (or see) anything in that reality, except if a very skilled author like Christopher Bennett, DRG3 or Kirsten Beyer would write it.

Yes. I never understood why there couldn't be any novels in this universe, but there is a whole series of comics.

Official name for the universe? Where?

Reportedly the Okudas settled on "Kelvin Timeline" as its designation in the updated Encyclopedia that's coming (which includes the new movies' timeline, yet still inexplicably fails to include the animated series). Star Trek Online was the first to announce it, though, in connection with a new campaign that includes elements from that timeline.

Of course, I'd love some novels set in the movieverse. I was deeply gutted when the initial four Kelvin Timeline books were cancelled in summer 2010.

Honestly I have conflicting opinions on this. I initially decided to never get into the Kelvin Tineline tie-ins as it seemed like a good cut off point to limit my always massive reading pile. So I have no intention of reading these books if they ever came out. But at the same time I really wouldn't mind them being published too much, as they would take places from Prime Timeline books, and allow me to read my backlog of them faster.

Huh. I'm usually more on top of updates from Star Trek Online.

Interesting. It's good to hear something out of the Okudas.

What do you mean "if there are novels"? In case you missed them, we've had the novelizations of both the 2009 and Into Darkness films, plus the 4 book Starfleet Academy series (The Delta Anomaly, The Edge, The Gemini Agent, The Assassination Game).

No. While I watched the movies and think them entertaining for the most part I don't have any interest in that universe. It's the anything goes universe. Things blow up with no real consequence to the prime universe which I'm far more invested in after so long.

Sure I'd read them. But the fact that the timeline now has an official name really has no bearing on that either way. (And I personally don't really like the name, anyway.)
