Perhaps the new show is going to be a legal drama and the ship is full of the Federations finest lawyers and legal experts sent to help the diplomatic negotiating team dealing with the Sheliak.
I hope they cast these guys:

Naturally the ship is named Discovery after Earth's pre-trial procedure.
