Do you think the Q will stick their noses at all in this new timeline?

The Rock

Fleet Captain
I mean, I don't necessarily want him to show up in any future movies involving this crew, but I just mean in general.....Do you think the Q from the regular universe would wanna check out this new universe? Or do you think they probably wouldn't even give a damn?

They'll probably take a peek. DeLancie Q's always been interested in the development and advancement of humanity, and it seems that the Narada's attack on the Kelvin was one such moment that advanced humanity, like the USS Maine in the Spanish-American War, or the Borg and Wolf 359.

I hope so. Q added a certain zest to ST imo. He pushed (and annoyed) Picard. He made them boldly see and experience stuff they might not have otherwise. Can anyone not remember the Borg? He fit in the let's see what's out there theme. He showed us our ooze beginnings.

You know from the very beginning I have wondered about Q and what he thinks about the new universe. But he probably has been going around and bothering every Picard in all the universes.

We may indeed see Q tinker with timelines and crossovers between them in future movies or TV series. But isn't DeLancie now too old to play Q?

I'm not sure I understand this. I thought the Q, as given in encounter, appeared to see whether humans would solve crises via violent means and whether they would attack something just cos it was different and to see whether humans would choose vioilence over diplomacy.

I dunno. The Q were great at first--because they were so advanced and operated outside of our perceptions of normal space/time, and saw the greater reality that was beyond the reach of mortal Humans. They were dangerous because they were indifferent to the travails and biases of humans--this made them kind of amoral and, thus, threatening.

Then Q was overused (a big problem with latter Trek) and became almost comic relief and a foil for Picard, Janeway, etc. Due to bad/convenient writing, The Q became small and petty and were just like Humans but with magic powers. Delancie's Q became the "Great Gazoo" of Star Trek and popped in for the most contrived reasons, often to save the day or seek "help"--from Humans!--for his little problems. Yuck....

Well it seems that some people on this site would bring Shatner onto the set in a hospital bed if that was the only way to get him into a movie, so I don't think his age would prohibit him from appearing in everyone's minds...

I say this as a huge fan of all things Star Trek:

NO

Q

EVER

!!!!!

Let's explore the altenate timeline! The whole Q thing is so played out. I found most of his appearances on Voyager annoying as hell. Loved him on TNG, though.

I think it would be tricky to have the Q in this alernate 'brat' timeline. Somehow, I think this Kirk would just swing at him, which would be disastrous, and something Picard never did.
