We have this regular customer, Debbie, who came in the other day. She talks. And talks. And talks. Whether you are anywhere near her or not. She asks questions and doesn't shut up long enough for you to answer them. She will pick out 900 items, then spread them all over the counter (other customers? What other customers?) and pick through them, change her mind a thousand times, end up purchasing 300 items, putting on hold another 300, and then I have to put away the final 300, plus a few more things she picked up when she wandered away a couple dozen times. Three of us tag-teamed on her the other day and we were all exasperated when she finally left 3 hours later. After checking out three separate times. And I actually ended up making a lot of purchasing decisions for her, based on the fact that her daughter and I have the same name. Every time she goes to leave the store, something catches her eye (our store is full of shiny things) and it's another hour. I cannot imagine how this woman manages to drive anywhere, especially over the bridge. The thought terrifies me. Also, I kind of want to call her daughter and ask, "Do you need any help with your mother? Do you want me to get you put into foster care?" I'm just glad the kid is already in our largest size and in another year she'll have to go to Hollister or AE instead.
