"Displacement-activated Spore Hub" Drive

I hear the characters refer to the Discovery's spore-drive technology by its "full name" a few times during the series - most recently when Burnham explains to Emperor Georgiou the means by which the Discovery arrived in the Mirror Universe.

Does anyone else think "Displacement-activated Spore Hub" (DASH) drive sounds like a backronym that the writers came up with originally but doesn't appear to have caught on? Possibly intended for use as a shorthand term allowing the ship to "dash" from place to place in the same way characters "warp" the ship from place to place?

Just a thought... :-)

That's my thought too, but then they had Lorca sabotage it by sarcastically calling it the "spore drive" early on and everyone called it that afterwards. So they did it to themselves.

Or maybe TPTB requested a "cool" name for it so they put one in and deliberately almost never used it.
