Disney to release X-Men TAS

According to TV Shows on DVD, the X-Men series of the 1990's is being released on 04/28/2009. The 2 disc sets are expensive, and little is known about what is actually going to be on them.

Here's the link.

I hope Disney doesn't screw it up, and I wish that they would release complete seasons.

I never watched this show a lot when I was a kid (though I constantly watched Spider-Man, I'm still waiting for that to show up on DVD). Assuming these DVD releases are the episodes in order from the beginning I'll be buying them.

Way cool! I loved the cartoon series! Wish they had used the theme music in the live action movies.

I'd love to have this series on DVD. $24 for a two disc set is expensive though, unless it's double-sided/double-layered.

They kinda did, at least in the first one. Michael Kamen's main theme for the first movie is rather similar to Shuki Levy's theme to the animated series.

Well $24 is the SRP, retailers will have it for a lower price (I believe the SRP of new movies is typically $30, so this should be around $15 when it comes out).

As for the number of episodes they could easily fit 8 episodes on a duel layer disk though. They had better not be flippers though, I hate flippers.

Let's see - the first two seasons were 13 episodes each, so that's 26 total episodes. If they go the route of making each volume one be season one and volume two be season two, then each disc would have six or seven episodes on it.

Pure speculation on my part, though.

What I wonder is if the episodes will be in production order or airing order. While season one and two aired in the proper order, some episodes from seasons three and four were aired later.

The other thing that would be nice to see - between the original airing of the pilot and the later airing, they changed some animation as the original airing was incomplete. I would love for them to include both versions of the premiere. And maybe the Pizza Hut roundtable discussions from the VHS versions sold by Pizza Hut back in the day.

I wish Disney would just release all of the episodes for X-Men and Spiderman in one package, uncut.

Why does Disney insist on ruining every property they acquire? Wasn't Power Rangers enough?

but if the rat doesn't edit out all the charater development, drama, and bust lines, than 2 year olds might not throw a screaming fit in the middle of the DVD aisle of wal-mart to pay $30 dollars for 15 cents worth of made in mexico discs

Wow I used to love that show! I wish they would just release it in Season sets though. I hate when shows are released as Volumes. Seems like a very greedy way to rip off the fans.

I've been looking forward to this show being released on DVD. This was one of my favorite shows when I was in high school. It was also my introduction to the X-Men.

I just hope Disney doesn't do something like drag out the episodes over a large number of volumes, or release them completely out of order.

If they aren't being released in order, I'm probably not going to buy them. Just release them in season sets already.

Also, as someone who liked Power Rangers for its first few years, but not since, I didn't know anything about their DVDs. What did Disney do to them? Thanks.
