Great. Not like I don't get enough of the current political divide from the real world.

As long as it's less on-the-nose than the new season of American Horror Story, we'll be okay. lol! But yes, we DEFINITELY get too much of that in the real world. It's exhausting.

I'm sick of politics but wasn't that the whole point of Trek to begin with? To tackle the issues of the day?

Any bets on which Klingons are shamed and defeated?

Yes. Now they're just repeating old stuff for the sake of staying in the spotlight in the absence of any new substantial info.

Smart movie, Discovery, going out of your way to piss off half of your fanbase. Always a smart business move, especially for a show that's on a fledgling subscriber service....

Ugh. If I want to follow politics, I'll watch cable news or check out sites online.

30% of the fans will think it doesn't go far enough, 30% will think it's just more of the lying liberal media lies, conspiracy and fake news!1!!!1! and the remainder will be like, "What politics?"

Why would this piss off half of the fanbase?

Personally, I'm thrilled, this is exactly what Star Trek should do.

Yup, I think most of us were expecting something like this to be announced or turn up in the show.

I'm still very much looking forward to watching it.

Attack political views they don't agree with?

Being anti-Trump is the least brave thing to do in Hollywood.
What, continue to throw a hissy fit over the election like 99% of Hollywood has and attack the members of their fanbase who voting for Trump?

To be fair, anyone who voted for that idiot deserves the ridicule.

    Abso-fucking-lutely.

If there are Star Trek fans dim enough that they have not realised that the show has been championing liberal values for fifty years, they're not gonna notice it now.

And to disgruntled Trump supporters, if you don't find Discovery to be your liking, HBO is making an alt reality show about a world where the Confederacy won. Maybe that will suit you better.
