But does a red sun actually turn a supernova back into nova?

Hmm... Logically, by the commutative property, maybe a redheaded man would.

(Which raises new questions about the nature of Red Matter...)

And then things will happen as a reaction to the things that happened in response to the supernova and characters will react to the things that happened in response to the things that happened because of the supernova.

Many cases of transwarp sunburn in the surviving Romulan Empire.

Tattoo business booms throughout the surviving Romulan empire.

The Romulan Praetor looks up at the supernova without special glasses, is mocked on social media throughout the quadrant.

    Sweet shit, can you imagine?
Nero: "Ambassador Spock and I have learned the Hobus star will-"
Praetor: "Fake news! This is fake news!"

No, because that would likely be story ideas and they are forbidden here.

I'm not sure if one should be amused or concerned with your constant posting about needing to know about the '87 incident.

Yeah, but I was suggesting (tongue-in-cheek), that Spock 2 would have the latest iteration of Spock's mind, up to the point shortly before he hopped on the red matter transport out of our timestream. Spock 2 (or any clone of Spock's with his latest katra download) could continue to be *Spock* in a similar manner as his Genesis rebirth constituted as Spock, even though he has no memory of his death (and claiming to always be Kirk's friend), as he had already deposited his katra in McCoy.

I apologize if my enthusiasm seems a little overbearing.

But I do worry the novelverse will have to be rebooted given Trek TV appears to be gearing up.

They need to press forward and wrap everything up and get as far as possible before that happens in my humble admittedly unlearned opinion.

Even if a reboot of the novel line was required (and so far that's very much not the case...there's not even a hint of that sort of thing), the likelihood of being able to "wrap up" anything is pretty small. It'd take way too much time to plan and execute, whereas the priority would be for future books to focus on the new direction. For a similar example, see what happened with the Star Wars books.

But as I said, that's not an issue, so again: Relax. Breathe regular. :)

Should that ever happen, I may have a chance to read the entire novelverse in my lifetime!

The existing novelverse is more than capable of dealing with any so-called "inconsistencies" that may turn up in DSC. No reboot or relaunch will be necessary.

And given that Kirsten Beyer is a writer on the staff, it's entirely possible that there won't even be any meaningful contradictions between DSC and the novelverse.

    My Discovery predictions:

    "There are two Andorian sexes."

"The NX-02 Columbia served with distinction for decades and Captain Erika Hernandez died in her sleep at the age of 96."

"Elias Vaughn? No, no one by that name will ever be born."

"Omne was the greatest threat the Federation ever faced."

"You have to read 533 Star Trek books before you can read Articles of the Federation."

Akiva Goldsman said in an interview just posted to IGN, that "We are aware of the books if it's useful, and if it doesn't interfere with canon, we may pick from it".
I don't how likely it is to actually happen, but I would love to see them bring some of the world building elements from the novels into the show, like the four Andorian genders and all of the stuff that KRAD established about the UFP government.
I have to wonder if Kirsten Beyer's presence in the writers' room has brought them at least a bit more awareness of the books.
