Discovery 8/10 info dump thread...

Lots of info is coming out and it's spread across a half-dozen really long threads, how about we keep the info dump to one thread...or at least concentrated in one easily findable post.

• Will be set in the Prime Universe. 10 years before Kirk's 5-year mission. Prequel Confirmed.

Gotta admit, the idea of paying for a streaming service and still getting hit with ads is bullshit. Info sounds mostly good though. Interesting at least.

I really seriously dislike what CBS is doing. They'll get my money for the first season though. After that, unless it's not only the greatest Star Trek ever, but the greatest TV show ever, my subscription will end and I'll just wait for it to be on sale at Amazon.

Likely as a Klingon captain was mentioned. As Worf was the first Klingon in Starfleet (sans a big ass canon violation), it's likely Klingons will regularly appear.

Seems that way to me. I had already heard bad things about it and wasn't really all that willing to subscribe just for one show. But the more I hear the more I am sure I will not be subscribing

Considering CBS is bragging about how profitable the series already is for them, without having cast a single actor or shot a foot of film, I can't say I'll be worrying about their slight loss of revenue to the finders keepers crowd.

There’s an incident and and event in Star Trek history, that’s been talked about but never been explored. ... not the Romulan War ... It’s only been referenced, never seen.

I like the idea of each season following the main character as she rises through the ranks, but I'm not a big fan of another prequel.

Anyway, I have faith in the writing team. I'm optimistic. There's still not much to go on yet.

I am very glad to see all the comments about All Access ads being a deal-breaker. Make it free with commercials - like TV - or a single, flat-rate, non-tiered subscription for no commercials. No tiers. CBS will have to get as smart as people interested in Star Trek.

Not a deal breaker. I'll still subscribe, if it is the only legal way to get the episodes. But, I think CBS may drive away some subscribers who are use to the Netflix model, and won't build a consistent, loyal user base with this strategy.

Which is to be expected when you do $67 million worldwide at the box office. I seriously doubt there will ever be a followup. I imagine they'll reboot.

Glad I'm in the UK, we'll be getting it on Netflix, so no ads.
