Dirk Gently - The TV Series (SPOILERS!)

Timelord79 (he/him)

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Is anyone watching this?

I wasn't even aware they made this into a TV show until I accidentally stumbled over the Pilot episode.

I think it is quite good. :)

It is obviously influenced strongly by Sherlock in style. The two leads even look a bit like Sherlock and Holmes.

But that's where the similarities end already.

Unlike Sherlock it is a comedy and Dirk's method of deduction is so ridiculous, but it works.

I also like that they don't shy away from sci-fi.

The Pilot's solution to the mystery was time travel!! Second regular episode had a genuine AI and some other sci-fi elements...

Yep, it's great. Dirk is the anti-Sherlock, as it were, and really they should have aired the two shows back to back on the same night, IMO

Well, there aren't just two episodes. The third is supposed to air tonight (March 19).

Hope it's performing well enough that they produce additional series. (From what I've seen, the critics seem to like it, so I'm hopeful.)

Er, by "the two shows" I mean Sherlock and Dirk Gently. Which have three episodes each this year.

Imagine if they'd had, say, 8:30- Sherlock, 10-Dirk. Or the other way round.

Imagine Sherlock finally losing his virginity?

Dirk "i believe in the interconnectedness of all things."

Sherlock "Do you believe in the interconnectedness of our things?"

Dirk "Hypothetically I don't believe it's outside the realms of possibility that our things could connect."

Sherlock "Good enough for me."

So, I've seen the Pilot, the one with the horrorscopes and the one at the university.
Is there one more episode to come or is that it?

I pretty much hated the pilot for messing around with the books characters, but the first 2 episodes of the series have been good.

I would have liked to see more of his unpaid secretary than we have though.

I get the feeling that she believes in the fundamental discontedness of all things.

His equal and opposite.
