It's not uncommon to show a trailer for a movie and never see the scene in the actual movie, or a changed scene.
What differences did everyone notice?
1) In the trailer we hear Nero say several things leading up to "FIRE EVERYTHING!" But in the trailer, they cut out the lead in parts, he simply says "FIRE EVERYTHING!"
2) Pike talking to Kirk in the bar: In the trailer he says "Your father was a Captain of a starship for 12 minutes, he saved 800 lives, including yours." In the movie he says "he saved 800 lives, including your mother's....and yours."
