When Clark runs at super speed, he is aware of everything around him as if it were happing in slow motion.

Is that something that only happens when he is running super fast?

If not, then every second must seem like an hour to him with his brain that operates on such an elevated speed.

I imagine it's only like that when he chooses to use that ability. I would have thought that he can control it like he can control his strength (i.e. not putting his foot through the floor when he walks) or his breath (i.e. not freezing his friends to death when he talks to them).

I don't know - you'd think that, but then, how quickly can he react to stuff? I mean, someone fires a gun at him, he can move fast enough to catch the bullet, if he needs to - can he hear the shot, turn on his super-speed and catch catch the bullet in that time? Being constantly aware of everything that's happening would make more sense than turning it on - but then I suppose if his alien brain can process all that information, all the time, maybe he doesn't need to experience it slowly, except as a side-effect of moving really quickly.

Perhaps the OP is referring to Clark in Smallville since he does not fly in the series and runs instead at super speed.

I read a Justice League comic that had the Flash being impatient. He was running to check on someone's arrival or something(I don't remember exactly) and he checked about 80 times. So he seemed pretty hyper like he felt like it was taking a really long time. I only have two newer Justice League graphic novels, so it must be in one of them-The Nail and The Philosphers Stone. They must be 10 years old now. I might have a couple regular issues.

I looked up the Nail and it doesn't seem to be one of the two I have. The first one was about these powerful alien superheroes showing up. They have superstrength, superspeed, etc. They aren't what they seem and they end up fighting the Justice League. Eventually the League figures out who they really are. I won't give it away.

The other one features Darkseid getting the Philosopher's Stone. So we see what Darkseid's dreamworld is like. The Joker is in that one and weird semi-goofy villians like Mirror Master. Batman's fate is sort of interesting in that one.

The Flash, on the other hand, does actually perceive everything as moving rather slowly. Flash also has a really, really high metabolism and has to eat constantly to maintain his energy and stamina.

This makes a decent amount of sense if you're of the school of thought that considers Superman's powers psyonic in nature rather than just purely physical.

ugh. I thought he was horrible. I loved the art-deco-meets-psychedelic sensibility of the sets, lighting and camera work, but Shipp was dreadful, as was the muscle suit (which must have been made from someone's carpet). Also, a little Danny Elfman goes a loooong way.
