Die is Cast, Interpreting Tain

Photon

Commodore

When Tain sent his message out he spoke of destroying the Founders and cutting off the K-White to the Jem'Hadar.

Did he realize the Vorta were the ones that took care of that task. Now the Jems could have killed themselves, but their K-White fix would keep comin' as long as the Vorta had the supplies.

Either plot hole or Tain mispoke

The attack on the Founder's homeworld might have just been the first strike. He might have hoped that the death of the Founders would have shattered the Dominion or at least send it reeling so that his fleet could then use the confusion and shock to strike at other facilities. That would have stopped or at least seriously hindered a Dominion counter-attack against the Alpha Quadrant, which the Cardassian Union would have surely bore the brunt of initially due to their proximity to the wormhole.

No, not enough was known about the Jem'Hadar so he was mistaken, or the impersonating Founder lied to him. I consider the latter most likely, trying to convince them to make the failed strike.

And Vorta aren't necessary for white, just the facilities, which I'm assuming to some extent the Jem'Hadar could run.

^ Yeah...I think the Jem'Hadar or anyone else could probably run the facilities. The founders just kept the facilities and white in general under Vorta control so as to keep the Jem'Hadar under their control.

The Founders were not stupid. They needed to keep the Jem'Hadar dependent or they'd be screwed.
