Did we ever find out how Rory became an auton?

Just watched "The Pandorica Opens" again. A bit of. A similarity between autons and gangers in some respects.

Both Rory and Amy have been "artificial persons," regardless of the reboot.

My interpretation was that Amy's memory of Rory brought back by finding the ring, made one of the Auton Romans into him.

Now since the restart of the show 2 companions have faced Auton versions of their boyfriends.

The Alliance created the Roman autons (and Rory) based on Amy's memories (Rory, her love of Romans in England and Pandora's Box). That's where Auton Rory came from. But they used detailed scan when they made him.
