Did the Vengeance break in two when she crashed?

Just watched STID again and it looks like when the ship skidded to a stop you could just see the saucer. Was just wondering, would be interesting to see if they (starfleet) salvaged the ship if she stayed intact...

Yeah, the saucer broke away from the engineering hull and then pitched up vertically.

It did break into at least x2 pieces (maybe more). You can see what looks like a nacelle dropping off to the right of frame (low in the main shot of the ship hitting the waterfront).

The nacelle drops fairly heavily in something of a slide - although it's not prominant, when compared to the saucer section plowing into skyline.

My hope is that it is salvaged and that we see it again in the next movie... :)

EDIT: as per Locutus' image above

We'll know for sure when Robert Ballard's documentary finding and exploring the wreck is revealed.

Meanwhile, enjoy this evening's feature "Raise the Vengeance!"

In depends on where you buy the disc...some Blu-Rays appear to have different extras than others, which sucks.

I could have sworn I saw the saucer itself fracture, laterally bisecting the void. Need to watch the crash again to verify. Stay tuned.

The crash is my favourite part of the film. I just wish it was longer. Not smashing into buildings longer - but falling from the sky longer. I love scenes like that.

The Vengeance is actually sleeker than folks give it credit for. It is quickly becoming my favorite ship. I was looking at the Hot Wheels V, then looking back at a small refit toy--and the refit suddenly looked weak---maybe this is what Star Wars folks see when they talk about ships on sticks.

I can confirm that the saucer does split across the void having studied the crash scene and watching a lot of behind the scenes for that ...scene...

Go To YouTube and search for ILMVisualFX and there's one with the Vengeance crash as a thumbnail. some nice VFX shots !!
