It's getting hilarious now, he spent about 90 minutes ranting that the trailer is fraudulent and cut together in such a way as to make the show look good when it is, in fact, terrible, and not true star trek.

I watched it out of curiosity as even midnight's Edge begrudgingly admitted that the trailer looks good and a lot better than Discovery.

We fans always find something to grouse about. I wouldn't pay attention to anyone at this stage who knocks it with so little to go on. I liked the trailer for its nostalgic touches, but I'm under no delusion that it will be a return to familiar territory. At the same time, I won't pour over every frame of it, looking for nits to pick — that enterprise will quickly devolve into an embarrassing farce. I hope Overlord got the views he was looking for, but, honestly, all the time he spent picking the latest trailer apart, could have been better spent constructing something new and original.

He has moments of entertainment and accuracy, and even hilarious double standards (unless I'm mixing him up with another of his clique who-- it doesn't matter) but even I disagree with him substantially on the teaser. I'll grant he's found a novel way to put a claim onto it (re-rediting) but this isn't the first time a show received a teaser that felt nothing like the actual product teased.

And we're all responding to a teaser, which might be radically different to the full episode. Teasers don't and can't convey everything, or they're perceived differently.

At least World Class xxxxx (won't say their actual name but they put all the others into a much higher quality league...)

Ironic since they like us are all talking about a show that is about 10% original as it's using everything right down to the show's name as a sequel... and even then it could be regurgitation of old Trek plots (like how TMP and Insurrection often were inspired from). Well, 10% given that Seven is acting a bit much out of character, if not taken out of context of the whole scene. Something few youtubers are going to acknowledge, they're all goin on and on about a teaser doing more than its job - to tease- and to try to find something between the lines.

You don't think Seven should have matured a bit socially in fifteen years? Or am I misunderstanding your point? I liked the obvious differences in her shown in the trailer. I also liked the suggestion (by her tone and body language) that she and Picard have a backstory now. I doubt I'd have thought to put the two of them together, but once I saw them on friendly terms, it became obvious how they might have actually sought each other out or been introduced by Janeway (whom we know was promoted above Picard).

I agree with your comments about the trailer. I am old enough to have seen the original Star Trek on network TV. Lots of money thrown at nostalgic rarely produces anything memorable. However, we will not know until somewhere about episode 3 or 4, the quality of the series.

Yep. I'd merge it into the new thread, but it precedes my opening post. Please continue any Overlord DVD discussion in the new, pinned thread.
