News Diana Rigg passed away.

First saw on the Avengers when I was a kid in the '60s. Then JB and GoT. She was an amazing talent and I bet she was a hoot in real life. She will be missed.

Reruns of The Avengers where I lived were opposite Johnny Carson and David Letterman, so I never saw them ("'The CBS Late Movie'? It's not a movie!") . I was aware of Diana Rigg mostly from OHMSS and reading about her. Then she took over for Vincent Price as host of Mystery on PBS and became a firm part of my weekly routine for many years, introducing Sherlock Holmes, Rumpole of the Bailey, Poirot, Inspector Morse, Campion, Cadfael and on and on. I have been watching as many of her intros as I can find, they are so classy and elegant, and remind me of a very enjoyable time. I am very sorry that she has gone.

Honor Blackman and Diana Rigg gone five months apart.:(

For a couple of years in the 70s, it was Star Trek on WPIX vs. The Avengers on WOR at 6 p.m. weeknights. If the Trek episode was a bad rerun, I'd switch to Steed and Mrs. Peel.

Laugh-in is to blame for the end of both series, ISTR. It took the slot Trek was promised, opposite Avengers.
Of course, if it hadn't been for Laugh-In, Trek and Avengers would have been clashing in late 68...
