Diamond Select SDCC "Battle Damage" Excelsior

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this thread. I haven't browsed the forum sections in a while and I couldn't find a dedicated section for Star Trek Merchandise.

I've been trying to find pictures online of the Diamond Select "Battle Damage" Excelsior that was sold a this year's San Diego Comic Con convention, but I've been surprised to find little to no pictures of this beast outside of it's package anywhere.

I'm curious to see how much damage detail they put on this rendition, because doesn't anyone think that this is an odd choice for a ship to have "battle damage"? She took one direct torpedo hit to the saucer section, but after you see the shields dissipate, the impact left no markings on the ship at all. The Excelsior pretty much left the battle unscarred, yet here she is looking as if she just went through a coal factory.

Did anyone who attended SDCC grab one, or seen opened pictures of the model anywhere?

Stupid question maybe, but is this supposed to be THE Excelsior? Or simply A Excelsior? If it's just a random one, it's probably just one of those cannon-fodder Excelsior's from the Dominion War.
If it's THE Excelsior..... I dunno really why. Maybe just because they thought it was cool?

Yep. It's supposed to be THE EXCELSIOR. From the official website.

A Diamond Select Toys Release! All hands brace for impact! The U.S. S. Excelsior has engaged the enemy, and it shows in this new battle-damaged edition of the original Excelsior-class starship! With new paint applications showing damage from the Battle of Khitomer, this limited edition of 100 ships will only be available at Comic-Con! Push a button to light up the bridge, deflector dish, impulse engines and warp nacelles, and trigger dialogue by George Takei as Captain Hikaru Sulu! Limited to 100 pieces. Packaged in a window box with try-me feature. Designed and sculpted by Art Asylum!

Maybe it's the damage from the subspace shockwave at the beginning of the film?

Even after exiting the shockwave she's still clean as a whistle. And as their site lists, it's damage taken from the last battle in Star Trek VI. Pretty much the biggest confirmation of that would be if they have that Torpedo impact underneath the saucer section.

A pity they didn't have the Enterprise-A repaint before Comic Con happened. I would have LOVED a Star Trek VI battle damaged version of that ship.

Wow, an actual Excelsior toy instead of the stupid Ent-B? Where can I get one? Take my money, please!

Umm, there has been an Excelsior toy out now for almost, what? Half a year now? In fact, we're getting a "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock" rendition in November.

Maybe if we're lucky they'll release a battle damaged version of that one with a bit of black smudge marks on the ends of the warp nacelles. Makes as much sense.

Yeah, I gave up looking a couple years ago. Only took'em 30 years. So yeah, 6 months... woot?

I got the Ent-B and the ncalles did tend to droop in the rear.
The one in the video looks more solid. The NX Excelsior will be the one I'm getting.

the Star Trek convention in Las Vegas...and will be using some of the profits/proceeds to purchase a case of Star Trek III Phasers :)
The ship doesn't have a major color scheme difference.. it is the Excelsior and has unique sound clips from Star Trek VI with Capt Sulu's voice.

hope this helps

Just picked up the standard Excelsior toy at the local store. Is it just me or there something off on the proportions of the saucer?

When I think of the Excelsior, I see it in Spacedock, as the Enterprise approaches, bth ships in a deep rich blue.

In that scene, the nacelles don't look that long, and the saucer seems almost as long as the nacelles.

I wonder if there were different length naceles, and if they were shortened for that spacedock scene.

That might just be our memory.
