Desperate Housewives canceled

Dream

This is for the three people here who were still watching the show.

It’s official: Desperate Housewives will end its eight-season run in May, ABC president Paul Lee confirmed Sunday morning at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills.

“It’s an iconic show and we’re extremely proud of it,” said Lee. “I just wanted to make sure it had its victory lap.”

Housewives creator Marc Cherry, who made the decision in concert with Lee, said he didn’t want to overstay his welcome. “I wanted to go out when the network still saw us as a viable show and a force to contend with,” he told reporters. “We felt from a creative standpoint that this was the right time. I feel so good about it.”

People really need to look into what canceled means.

The show is ending, it's not being canceled. They decided to end the show.

Canceled and ending. It's all the same thing to me.

But it's not the same to most people, certainly not to those in the business of making television. Being canceled means the show most likely will not get an ending but a show ending means it will.

Eight years is a good run for any show, anyhow. Whether you call it being canceled or ended, no one can say the show was a failure.

I watched it when it first started, but I gradually lost interest.

Glad for the actresses to have all those years of good paid work, though, because they're a talented bunch.

All cancellations are endings, but not all endings are cancellations! Everyone who gets fired from their job leaves their job, but not everyone who leaves their job has gotten fired. A woman I know won the Florida State Lottery and promptly quit her job, which was a much happier situation for her than getting a pink slip! :)

I never was a fan of Desperate Housewives, but I also think that it qualifies as having had a successful run!

Remember the protesters with the pickets outside the front of mark Cherry's house in an early episode of Arrested Development?

"It's Satire!"

The difference between cancelled and ended is the same as pushed and jumped, or murder and suicide.

I used to like Desperate Housewives, but it really is past its sell-by date. It needs to end.

Reminds me of what Rod Serling said at the end of "The Twilight Zone's" run: "I decided to cancel the network."
