It's a good watch IMO, I like hear Doug's thoughts on it. Wasn't sure if I should put it here or the General Trek subforum, but I guess this place works better.

God, what I wouldn't have given for Drexler to be on the Discovery design team, fighting for the established look of Starfleet in a prequel.

At the very least before getting fired, I'd like to think he'd have fought tooth and nail, and then went ahead and snuck things in there, under the lidar, to counteract the lost cause that is the Klingons.

Although they dont look like immediate predecessors to TOS, don't the DiscoStarfleet ships (with the exception of the lead ship itself) look like evolutions from NX-01? Even their version of the USS Enterprise takes cues from the NX.

Apart from the nacelles, that's true. The designs do look closer to ENT. A few decades after possibly. I've always given Dexter more credit for thinking about the ships evolve.
