Deliverance "Mountain Man" actor RIP

The Shootist was mentioned in the Harry Morgan thread, which reminded me of another actor who died this week. Bill McKinney, credited only as "Mountain Man" and making "Squeal like a pig" a well-known catch phrase, died Dec. 1 at the age of 80.

When I was a kid in the '70s he was a go-to for playing bad guys and creeps. Besides the disturbing hillbilly rapist in Deliverance, he played the relentless Redlegs leader in The Outlaw Josey Wales and had a small but bizarrely memorable part in Thunderbolt and Lightfoot as a deranged driver who picks up hitchhiking Clint Eastwood and Jeff Bridges. He showed up on TV, too, and was part of Eastwood's "company" of actors and was in most of his movies in the '70s and '80s. He played a town ne'er-do-well gunman in The Shootist, and I see he was also in Parallax View which I had forgotten. This article says Stanely Kubrick wanted McKinney to play the drill sergeant in Full Metal Jacket but was too intimidated by his Deliverance image to meet him:

RIP.

He was also in the third Back to the Future film - he was the train engineer who gets held up by Doc and Marty ("Is this a holdup?" "It's a science experiment...") at the end.
