The Antares crosses a point of no return and turning back to Earth is no longer an option. In the meantime, each of the crew members has to cope with a personal point of no return.

I found it annoying how many times they said the word Rubicon throughout the course of the episode, but oh well.
I still don't know what I'm watching... but given the slow build (WE CAN'T TELL THEM ABOUT THE BIG SECRET ON THE SHIP), I imagine it must be building to a cliffhanger that probably won't be resolved.

I do like how they just take a lot of the background stuff for granted. There's no "Well, in the year 2024, Congress passed a law criminalizing abortion" or whatever. I prefer that to the exposition that most SF series usually rely on.

The teaser for next week seems kind of silly though... but I guess since Americans might not have seen it, I won't discuss it here.

If they don't stop this flashback nonsense soon..I will find each and every writer and slowly kill each differently.....

other than that I see the storyline just getting quagmired slowly...

I stopped watching this a few episodes back, but came across it whilst fiddling with a temperamental DVDR, which reminded me of something from the earlier episodes, particularly the premiere: the suicide-inducing music. Seriously, who the hell chooses the soundtrack for these long overlay/interludes? I hear this deathbed rattling and all I think of is emo boys and girls having themselves a good cry on their black-and-pink bedspread (with the drapes shut, natch). You'd think a little up-tempo music could help counteract the leaden pacing; as it is, it only contributes to the overall lethargy.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

I didn't get a teaser for next week. They promoted the premiere of Grey's Anatomy instead, which isn't for another month.

So what's going to happen is that baseball that Donner threw out into space is going to hit an alien spacecraft on a scientific exploration mission, and they're going to view it as a sign of hostilities and nuke earth.

Ughh Paula needs to be shot. Let's talk to the audience like they are two year olds.

I think DG would've been better as a DVD viewing. I've given up on pointing things out that piss me off. I will note that on Canada it has been moved to a Friday 10pm slot.

While Space is running it at 8pm Friday.

I continue to watch the show (it's ok, despite it all), but it's just not doing anything to pull me in. There WANTS to be excitement with the show, but it's dragging it out too slowly, without any real hooks to keep people watching...

Really? Is that next week I guess?

This is my favorite episode so far.
Finally got the full story on the baseball, and validation for what I've been screaming at the screen every time somebody gives Donner crap about "leaving two people on Mars": "It was because of Goss, dammit!"

And I think maybe Mintz should've followed Donner's lead, and tossed that medal out the airlock.
Apparently he really needed to get rid of that!

But why can't religious people read the bible without moving their lips? If they want to read it out loud, they need to speak up.

And I find it thoroughly implausible that Zoe could've been spawned from a woman as hideous as that.
All the attractive women I know have equally attractive mothers.
Actually, I'm not entirely convinced that was a female playing that role — at least not born female.

The actress that played Zoe's mother also played Harmony, Willie's girlfriend on V and V The Final Battle.

She looks like she's had some awful plastic surgery since then. She would look better with some wrinkles than she does with "plastic face".

Uh, I think her audience is supposed to be younger school kids. She was answering questions for them the other week.

Almost all the astronauts seem to have something annoying about their character at this point. Wass is an antagonizing jerk. Zoe's got perpetual baby fever. Nadia can't stop being a nympho even when the mission is in jeopardy. And now we've got Jen's bizarre and super creepy adopt-a-rabbit-embryo thing.

The rabbit embryo is going to get infected by space radiation and turn into a crew-killing mutant, but Zoe will protect it and treat it like her own aborted child. Then it will mate with Beta and create the Predator.

Nadja's unprofessional behaviour really bugs me. Why Donner actually accepted her offer id beyond me.

I gave this one an "Average". After a slight boost last week, we're back to the interpersonal melodrama. I was just want to shout at the screen: there are MORE IMPORTANT THINGS GOING ON HERE, PEOPLE!!

The flashbacks actually got me confused for a while with the timeline of everything.

Hopefully, now that they've passed the "Rubicon" things will start getting juicy.
