Starship Defiant vs. Borg sphere. Who would win ?

TNG Borg are the real deal. The Defiant under Sisko would hold its own for a while, get in a few good shots but that'd be it. It would take a swarm of Defiant class ships to bring down a Cube

Wasn't Worf commanding the Defiant in FC? ... It didn't hold up against that sphere.

The Defiant battled a full-sized Cube, not a Sphere. Given that the Sphere went down in about three shots from the Enterprise, I'd assume that the Defiant would fare well against a Sphere.

I think you need to take time out to learn about shapes the defiant was fighting a cube not a sphere.

As for the OP's question, the Defiant would win hands down, Borg spheres aren't impressively powerful compared to cubes but the Defiant is powerful and resilient even without shields and held up extremely well against a Borg cube after withstanding several direct hits from Borg weapons. I would imagine the Defiant firing a barrage of Quantum Torpedos and taking evasive maneuvers would be more then adequate to take down a sphere.

yup...my mistake is was a cube. But if the hypothetical Sphere Borg were to use the same strategy as the Borg Queens sphere I wouldn't call that a win.

An easy mistake, It started out as a cube but finished as a sphere. Either way, the Defiant would win. why? Simple, her crew is in the opening credits

The only reason the Borg ship went down with three shots from the Enterprise is that everyone else had been and was shooting at it.

IIRC, the sphere exited the cube whole, and apparently undamaged. The Enterprise was the only ship firing on it onscreen.
