Deals with the Q

How come no captain ever attempts to make a deal with Q, in return for some noble goal, like Why couldnt Captain Janeway just agree to mate with Q in exchange for like....... destruction of the Borg? She seemed like she would go for soemthing like that. Can Q be summoned? Like, scream during a deadly battle or something, and he will hear you like Superman?

And they couldn't count on him to actually hold up his end of the bargain.

It's why Janeway didn't take him up on his deal to send them home in VOY, she had no way of being sure he'd actually do it or if he'd dump their kid off on him and say "Nyah-nyah! I made you a single mom, so long sucker!"

Janeway is a starfleet officer. As a Captain she learns a code of ethics. It was something she upheld that the captain in "Equinox" did not. It sounds like you want Janeway to be a sleeparound slut.

To be fair, Q has rarely (if ever) been shown to be a flat-out liar. Have we ever even seen anyone try to make a deal with him? It's rare that anyone would have anything to *offer* Q in the first place.

Picard got to play 20 Questions with him in "All Good Things..", but didn't feel like sticking to the rules.

OTOH, "Encounter at Farpoint" left everybody sort of thinking that the Q had ruled in favor of letting mankind continue space exploration, but the very next meeting with the superbeing revealed that the jury was still out on that. Q seems to have misled the audience and the heroes there.

Why would that be contrary to high standards of ethics? Janeway hasn't committed to any other sort of sexual behavior as far as we know; she and her boyfriend split amicably, AFAWK.

Janeway has at times been willing to become a hired gun, which would appear to be outright unethical: not only is she betraying her military commitment to Starfleet, but she's using violence as a currency. Of course, she has been able to argue that she's doing the military bidding of locals because she's responsible for sorting it all out to start with, and she's not taking explicit payment. But she cashes in on the accumulating goodwill anyway.
