Deadly Games and Star Trek

Hey Everyone,

Does anyone remember the UPN show Deadly Games? I wrote a retrospective about the show, and realized just how many Trek connections there are. Leonard Nimoy produced, his son directed an episode, Lever Burton/Brent Spiner/Dwight Schultz guest started, Christopher Lloyd starred, and Dennis McCarthy composed.

What did everyone think of it? Did you watch because Burton and Spiner were featured?

Now that's a blast from the past! Yeah, I remember it. Bad guys from a dude's video game come to life. They are all based on people from the creator's life, with the the main baddie, The Jackal, being based on his dad. It was pretty bad from what I recall (as were most of UPN's shows) but I enjoyed it enough.

Nah, I didn't watch because of them. The basic concept of the show is what drew me in.

While looking back to the big name, well-remembered shows is cool (B5, Lost in Space, Twilight Zone, etc.), I love it when someone like you looks back to the more obscure stuff (especially when it's something I watched myself). Kudos to you!

Thanks! I love the show, and figured it wouldn't have been written about a million times already.

I wonder what else from the 90s I can do something about... Would anyone remember M.A.N.T.A.S.? ('cause I don't! :-) )

Nice retrospective. I found the show silly but entertaining, and I always had kind of a crush on Cynthia Gibb, so she and Christopher Lloyd kept me around even when the other characters and storylines might not have.

And thanks for confirming that this was the show where the sidekick had the annoying and bizarre "Don't give me right if I'm not right" catchphrase. I recall that both this and the NBC run of Viper had sidekicks with annoying catchphrases, but I wasn't sure which one had that phrase. Now I can't remember what the Viper guy's catchphrase was.

I hadn't remembered that this show was the replacement for Legend. Now, that was a fine show that was cancelled far too soon.

Thank you!

Man, I haven't watched Legend since it first aired. It was very good.

UPN aired a ton of great shows that had a 1990s, scifi syndication vibe to them; Legend, Deadly Games, Nowhere Man, etc. They'd have all done better syndicated, too.
