"Dead Space" animated DVD

I was at the store today and spotted a DVD that appeared to be an animated movie based on the "Dead Space" video game. I hadn't even heard that such a thing was in production - anyone know if it's any good? I haven't played the game either, frankly, with so many good titles out (Fallout 3, GoW2, etc) it's pretty far down my list.

I dont't know about the DVD, i just start playing the xbox 360 game, and it is very good.

I haven't seen it, but I've read a review here or there. It's actually a prequel to the game.

I watched a portion of it that night. The animation is nice, but frankly... the movie is little more than a gruesome exercise in violence.

^^ With an ocean of red pixels...A very bloodly ocean...

I watched it last month. It's the standard horror movie stuff, set before the storyline of the game. Very gory, as I suspect the game is. I'm not a big horror fan so it's difficult for me to judge, but if you're interested in the game, or have played violent games like it, you may enjoy it as it sets up what you'll be playing.
I'd say it rates 2 asteroid chunks out of 4.

I watched it a few days ago and I thought it was okay. It was a decent soldiers vs monsters movie. There were scenes involving people getting dismembered and cut in half so I understood why it had to be animated but I still felt that the 2D animation detracted from the horror. It did not have the feel of the video game. The movie is a prequel to the game, so I knew that any character that doesn't appear in the game is going to die. That's not a good thing for a horror movie.

I haven't played the game yet but want to. I watched the movie on Sci-Fi Channel and it was your basic generic Alien ripoff, poorly armed spaceship crew versus unstoppable monsters. Very bloody.

Dead Space is actually a "trilogy". If I remember correctly, the story starts with the graphic novel, moves on to the film and then to the game.

It also has a couple of online comics as well.
The animations set the game up very nicely.
The game is awesome too!!
