I am basing my list on PRE-CRISIS...but would love to see Pre-crisis and Post-crisis listings..(meaning CRISIS OF INFINITE EARTHS)

1. The Spectre
2. Modru (in his 30th century prime)
3. Phantom Stranger
4. Darkseid
5. Doctor Fate.

What about all? How would you rank the 5 strongest DC characters (both now and then)

pre-crisis (86). The only modern COMIC BOOK I read now, and there are two of them, are JSA and BRAVE AND THE BOLD.

I think the Spectre, well at least Jim Corrigan, was far more powerful than the Guardians...in fact, how powerful is just one Guardian? I always see them sitting on that bench not doing much...

I believe pre-crisis Superman would have held this position as most powerful. Could travel through space, unlimited power, could move planets, able to travel through time unaided, kryptonite was all destroyed, did not need to eat, breath, or rest. Almost unlimited super powers. Only weaknesses Red Sunlight and magic.

I would add Captain Marvel to the list. No real weakness while in Captain Marvel form.

Time Trapper perhaps would make the list.

pre-crisis Superman would have problems with PHANTOM STRANGER/DR FATE and SPECTRE since he is powerless against Magic....And Spectre showed the ability to travel to the begining of time, instantly...My money is still on pre-crisis Spectre. That dude could literally keep worlds from different dimensions from colliding (and was doing so in early JLA/JSA crossovers)
