DC The New 52 - :(

Let me preface this by giving some maybe damning facts about myself:

I'm in my mid 30's
I've been reading comics since just before COIE in the 80s
I'm a Marvel/DC fan but read indie stuff too
I loved the rich DC Universe

SO we're 3 months into the New DC universe and everything you know has changed. And yknow what.....I really cant get into it.

I appreciate that there needs to be a welcome aboard point for new readers but nothing feels as rich anymore, theres no history behind characters to explain why they do what they do. I know that thev've decided to leave the Batverse and Green lanternverse alone, mostly but that makes it all the more confusing. We're now more fucked up than we were post Crisis 1. All that time batman and GL spent with HAwkman etc? all gone.

What makes it worse is that some of the more identifiable characters like Superboy, and some of the more enjoyable and well written books like Teen Titans and some of the more well rounded characters like Starfire and Amanda waller are now unrecognisable.

I know this is the shape of the DCU forever now (till the next reboot) and that this is no Age of Apocalypse mini universe and that makes me all the sadder....

IS anyone actually enjoying this more than the previous Universe?

As a post script - am enjoying Deathstroke and red hood. I Miss my JSA!

I've not really read comics since High School and I used this relaunch to get back into them. So far I like what I have seen.

As for the characters not being as "rich" without their past... Isn't this the point? Without being weighted down with all of that this is a good time to explore them again and see what could be different and exciting about them.

It's been 3 issues, give them a bit more of a chance to become bold once the origin and introductory stuff is done.
