DC Cinematic Universe ( The James Gunn era)

Her.

Supergirl-JS-tvgm.jpg

Great show for the first four seasons.

Madame Web did exactly $100m off a product budget of $80m. Supergirl might hit $110m off a production budget of $175m.
Madame Webb made 100 million worldwide after an 8-week run in theaters.

Supergirl today starting it's second weekend is at 87 million worldwide. You really think over the next 4 to 5 weeks it's only going to make 23 million more?:wtf::guffaw:

It's probably going to do Incredible Hulk level numbers worldwide by the end of its run.

I realize you absolutely hate the film and are absolutely cheering it's lack of success; but it's hardly going to be the biggest bomb ever made even for the DCEU overall.

But why would they want to do the same thing again? There are other takes from the character that are just as legitimate. The execution was off in this case, I'll grant you, but to just do the same thing over again that I just been done with the character would have been silly.

Pretty much - might push to $120m but the international drop-off and 73% Dom second weekend puts a hard cap on upper limit.

It simply will not be on many international screens by next week.

Was that directed at my post? If so, it’s misplaced. I am fully on board with multiple and diverse takes on these characters. I liked the Slater, Benoist, and Calle versions of Kara very much. Hell, I liked Alcock’s cameo in Superman. Different interpretations aren’t the problem, subpar movies are.

It will most likely go past $100 million but not much, the movie's already dead.

Absolutely not, no way. TheIncredible Hulk had a $55 million opening weekend which is significantly more than Supergirl had with $37 million, Hulk also had an almost 50/50 domestic/international split while Supergirls is closer to 60/40. So not only did Supergirl make much less domestically , the international numbers are even lower. Supergirl will get nowhere near Incredible Hulk's $260 million.

The comparisons with Incredible Hulk are pointless anyway, not only was the market very different back then Incredible Hulk also performed better than expected, the Ang Lee movie had hurt the IP and Marvel never expected the movie to do particularly great.

I agree! My wife and I loved her character from "stumbling" hero to the more experienced hero in season 4. After that season we stopped watching the show.

Man, I want to love season 4 because the message against hatred, ALT-right, racism, sexism and discrimination was amazing. But sometimes the way it was told was in such a way that it felt unnatural. Because the heart of that season was everything that show was about! After that.... Well, I never finished the show. :(

Me too but unfortunately it felt so forced and preaching that we had trouble with finishing the season.

Are there any women who enjoyed Wonder Woman (2018) in this thread? If so, would you please comment on whether your favorite aspect of the movie was Chris Pine's hotness?
Yes. I enjoyed it the first time. My favorite aspect was actually their interesting interpretation of The Cheetah. But then, I've been a WW fan since the early 70s.

James Gunn says other DCU movies won’t come to digital as quickly as ‘SUPERMAN’“Next time, it’s gonna be longer. I don’t want people to get used to it, it’s purely because of ‘Peacemaker’ that I let it come out at this time”(via: I Think You’re Overthinking It)

Superman came to streaming after 35 days, Supergirl will after 32 days so I guess that idea was quickly forgotten when tested by reality.

With Spider-Man unquestionably sailing past a billion and Avengers likely to do so if it doesn't totally f' things up, what happens to Gunn if "Man of Tomorrow" comes in at the same 600M range again?

Warners' aren't paying him vast sums of money to make films that just squeak into profit.

If MOT only hits $600m, then we will head into the next version of the dcu...
