David Tennant + fish = comedy

Another reason why Doctor Who stars rule. Sometime last year David Tennant appeared on some UK radio show and subjected himself to being slapped in the face with a fish. While wearing goggles. And a poncho. And a sombrero.

You think you'll ever see any of the stars of NCIS or CSI or Battlestar Galactica or Once Upon a Time go on radio and get slapped in the face with a fish? I think not. Doctor Who stars 1, Rest of the acting community Zero!

(Apparently they auctioned off DT's fashionable fish face ensemble afterwards!)

I enjoyed that a lot more than I thought I would.

Thumbs up to you, Mr. Tennant!

This is one reason why I like DT as Dr Who so much, he can take a joke and is not afraif of doing odd, funny things in his performances.

Well to be fair the same can be said of Matt Smith, who once ran barefoot across a vat of cornflower paste for a TV show alongside Karen Gillan. But i really can't imagine Christopher Eccleston - or, really, any of the preceding Doctors - allowing themselves to be sent up in this same manner, with the possible exception of Tom Baker.

I have had to swallo my pride and admit I was wrong about Matt Smith. He IS a good Doctor and has loads of charisma and funloving appeal to him that really works, especially with Karen Gillan. I let my views and appreciation for David Tennant sway my opinion too far over. Really-do we need to like one at the expense of another?
