David Mitchell for next Doctor!!

Seriously. He's good at ranting, serious stuff, is very funny, can do straight acting (he's been in some of the Beeb's Dickens stuff) and has dark eyes and slightly odd looks.

Pulls off a silk shirt well too if the Children in Need QI special is any indication...
 
That'd be fabulous - he's one of the most unassuming blokes on TV; his bumbling doctor would be underestimated by most potential enemies, making their defeat all the more satisfying.

And he's a fan, and he's said he'd like to do it but reckons the Doctor has to be better looking than him nowadays...
But... if he does Doctor Who then he won't have time to do Peep Show, and The Unbelievable Truth, and That Mitchell and Webb Sound/Look, and everything else. So no, keep him where he is! We can find other Doctors, and I like his other stuff too much!

Which is modesty talking - while he may not be conventionally attractive he's at least on a par with Eccleston and Tennant in terms of "oddly good-looking", especially since losing weight (not that he was ever larger than Colin Baker).
 
I wouldn't mind Mitchell being the next Doctor, but I have so many others I would like to see as the Doctor as well. In fantasy land I would like to see Eddie Izzard or Stephen Fry take on the role as perhaps we could have a slightly older Doctor next.
 
I love him to bits but have only really seen him in none too serious stuff (although one could argue Peep show is serious at times) Would he fit into nuWho's need to be young sexy brash etc...possibly not, but one could argue neither did Tate.

Obviously he should have a Peep Show style voice over if he was the Doctor...

"Oh God why did I invite Sharon into the TARDIS? Does she fancy me? I don't know, do I fancy her...not really, but I suppose if it comes down to it I'd do her, I mean it isn't like I get a lot of action anymore. I just thought someone from the 21st Century would have more to talk about, wish I'd realised she was a bloody chav, I can't keep taking the TARDIS to red carpet events and using the psychic paper so she can meet George Clooney. Oh why oh why didn't I take Ulella the cave girl? Ok we didn't have a lot to talk about but she was hot, and she definitely fancied me. I wonder if I can get the Cybermen to kill Sharon for me...that worked last time...'

But yeah, I can totally get behind this idea. David Mitchell would make a fantastic if unconventional looking Doctor.

Maybe a bit too well known though.

but, hm... he wouldn't be bad... instead of What? WHAT? WHAT? we'd get No, no, no, no! :shifty:
