David Hasselhoff Won't Be on 'Knight Rider'

Last month, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson spoke to Fanbolt and clarified the issue on whether or not David Hasselhoff or KITT voice over William Daniels would make an appearance on the show. He stated, "We haven't spoken about William Daniels at this point. I have spoken to David [Hasselhoff] and, David and NBC, and myself, we're discussing."

While fans got excited over those official statements, new reports have surfaced, telling us that Hasselhoff won’t be able to appear in the new series...

"I went in and pitched Knight Rider to the network with all the intentions of coming back as, like, the dad or something," David Hasselhoff told Showbiz Spy. "But they decided to go a different route. So I just said 'See ya later and good luck.'"

What do you think of this news?

with the way the show has turned out I think it'll be good for the Hoff to not have this show in his list of credits . . . I'm surprised it's still on the air . . .

seriously, it sucks
the only good part is Paul Campbell
I always hoped to see Billy again, though instead of being a Cylon or a flashback or whatever now he's a goofy nerd

For me, this news is the final nail in the coffin for this waste of bandwidth. I'd hoped the show would improve with fun, high-concept storylines and more development of Michael's relationship with KITT. I cringe every time KITT turns into a pickup, and there's waaaay too much T&A (I'm a pervert, and if I think there's too much T&A, there's a problem)! I decided to stick it out in the hopes that there might be one or two good old KITT/new KITT episodes, but if I don't even have that to look forward to, I'll just shake my head with an exasperated sigh and tune into something better.

Like C-SPAN. Or Food Network. Fox News. One of the channels that airs continuous static programming. Reruns of "Barney Miller" on YouTube. Hitting the refresh button on random 404 pages. My wedding video. My neighbor's vacation slideshow. The webcam on my cat's litterbox ....

I accidental caught about 15 seconds of the new series. Horrible. From the teeny girl, the dumb OC-like guys, the bland scoring, and terrible writing. And all that in just 15 seconds. And they say it's better than the pilot, which I saw some of too. And the pilot was shit!

I was really disappointed in the direction of the series.

Is it really all that hard to have a consistent albeit fantastic universe in which all of the characters behave in a serious and realistic manner? Sure the car can talk, but does that mean that the whole ops teams gets to debate how the mission will go down and surfing is a field ops qualifier for a computer tech? Let's not even mention that she never even got in the freaking ocean. (Sadly I've seen all the episodes thus far... I keep thinking it will get better... )

"Scarecrow & Mrs. King" was presented in a more realistic way than this show.

Hell, "Bionic Woman" looks like "The Wire" when compared to this crap.

WTF?

.... there's waaaay too much T&A....
Laboratory experiments done by Nobel laureates have conclusively proven that it is impossible to have too much T&A. Especially if it's Deanna Russo.

As to the theme of the thread - I wouldn't put too much stock in these reports considering that as has been noted he showed up for the pilot film. Alot of shit gets said in hollywood. Vin Diesel also said he didn't do sequels. They said they would never do toy story 3. etc and so forth.

It's an oooold interview. Since that time Gary Scott Thompson has said he and Da Hoff are indeed in talks for a potential appearance and Da Hoff himself put out a video on the web encouraging KR fans to support the new series.

Though I've only watched the series premier and so I'm not really into the new Knight Rider..But I'm still hoping for a return of the original Kitt..just for the scene where the old Kitt tells the new Kitt.."You know in my day we didn't need all those fancy gadgets and so on and so on...".

ORIGINAL KITT: You're a KINO -- a "KITT" in name only. I have an actual personality. I don't need fifty other configurations. I don't need to be serviced in a Batcave. I only need one scanner. My armor is always on. I have a distinct and distinguished voice. I was driven by The Hoff. And my TV series lasted for four seasons.

NEW KITT: Yes, but... my voice sounds like that guy from Willow.

ORIGINAL KITT: You mean the guy with the skull mask?

NEW KITT: No...

ORIGINAL KITT: The chick?

NEW KITT: No...

ORIGINAL KITT: Wicket?

NEW KITT: Actually...

ORIGINAL KITT: Then I have news for you. Extras don't talk.

A lot of people are talking about the suckage of the show. It's not as good as I had hoped. Too much T&A as others have said. However, take an hour and watch an episode of Team Knight Rider, and you'll realize that that KR 2008 is 1000000 times better.

TKR: Screens with cars on them and every once and a while a random line from one of the 5 cars / bikes with no personality whatsoever trying to be funny. Bad acting. Bad writing. When they decide to crash the cars into something, it's done so poorly that that it's painfully obvious it's been dented or the window's been cracked. And that was just the first episode. The second was the same. I can't bring myself to watch the third.

KR 2008: The car actually DOES something. Acting is better. There is an attempt at plot inbetween the T&A. I'm hoping it finds its feet and gets better.

I prefer Team Knight Rider to this new show. I officially gave up caring about this dull snoozefest this week and recorded over the last episode with a show about paint drying...it was more entertaining.

I couldn't make it through a single episode of Team Knight Rider. Saying that this new show is better than TKR is like saying that sitting on a thumbtack is better than eating one's own feces. One of those activities is less repulsive than the other, but that doesn't mean that the least repulsive activity is something that one would actively choose to do.

I apparently have low standards or something, because I'm enjoying the new show, and really couldn't care less whether The Hoff shows his face again or not.

I mean, for fuck's sake, guys... it's Knight Rider! We're not talking about Hamlet or War and Peace here. The original show was not nearly as great as we pretend to remember it being. It was a lot of fun, but it wasn't exactly Shakespeare either.
