Data never called Picard a Lunkhead

WHAT IF
The first thing that came to Geordi's mind was to warn Data. That means itwas somehow dangerous to insult the Captain. WHAT IF he hadn't, and Data went to call Picard names?

If it was a human crewmember, Picard would probably do a Jaxa Sito a few months after (another example: what happened to Sonya Gomez after she hot chocolated Picard's uniform? we probably will never know -- EDIT see below).

But I dont think he would have summarily spaced Data -- after all he is an android.

He would exclaim in Indignant Shakespeare: "I beg your pardon!" of this I'm sure. But what next?

EDIT I went to Memory Alpha and learned Gomez is in the cartoon show. THis cartoon show is ruining every opportunity for discussion and fan theory. I hate LD

I was kinda bummed when they showed Giant Spock's corpse and he was still wearing the blue Starfleet uniform, to me meaning he died not long after that episode. It made me a little sad for some reason.

Data calling Picard a lunkhead wouldn't have been any dumber than answering Sarjenka's message (first mistake) and then not telling anyone about it (second mistake).

Now that you mentioned it, it is very sad. That TAS episode ended in so optimistic a note.
