Dark Horse's Star Wars novel adaptations

Branching off the Splinter thread, in the 90s Dark Horse adapted a few of the Star wars novels-Timothy Zahn's trilogy, Splinter of the Mind's Eye, Shadows of the Empire....A novelization of Truce At Bakura was planned , but was shelved. The Shadows comic series isn't really a direct adaptation but more of the novel, but more of the story from a different POV (The Force Unleashed is kind of similar)

The adaptations took some artistic liberties (Most notably with the depiction of the Noghri), but they're largely to credit for Mara Jade's 'jumpsuit' look instead of that green dress she wore on the book covers. Talon Kaarde, likewise, looked more like a biker and less like the dashing pirate from RPG books. Palleon is depicted without the trademark mustache he sports in a lot of other artwork, but he could have always grown it at some other point.

Art-wise, HTTE is done by some European artists and has an overall cartoony, slightly mangaish look to it. DFR is done by Terry Dodgson, well known for his Marvel and DC work (He draws Black Cat a lot) and TLC is done by the late Edvin Bionovic(sp?).

The adaptations are slightly abridged. For instance, the early scene in HTTE where Obi-Wan basically says he's moving to a higher plane of Force Ghost is cut out, although we are given the aftermath of the scene and the Force ghost trio (With Anakin sporting his Sebastian Shaw likeness) show up at the birth of Jacen and Jaina.

Oddly, things haven't really gone the other way, with the exception of the Jedi Vs. Sith series being largely the foundation for the Darth Bane novel series.
