Daredevil: More Courtroom & More Formula

I love the look, the tone, and the cast is great, but I wish Netflix' Daredevil would have more legal drama in the Courtroom: Perry Mason and Sam Waterson/Law & Order stuff.
I was hoping for a classic TV formula and less Soap Opera. The recipe would be lawyer by day, vigilante justice by night. The director admitted the show was basically a 13 hour unedited feature film. Doesn't anyone else miss the classic TV (like Trek) formula? Enough with the soap opera!

I definitely want more courtroom for Daredevil. It's a crucial ingredient. But I don't want it in a "one story, one trial" old-TV style. Make it count, make it connected to the rest of the story, make it good. :)

I thought they wove an interesting amount of the court room drama in to the ongoing story, without bogging it down.

Since it is, in essence, and origin story film, I'm not surprised that they minimized the court room stuff in favor of showing us how he became Daredevil. I think, as with his costume, Matt becomes more bold and more experienced in the duel sides of his life, we will probably see more court room drama tying in to all of it.

Hell no, the show is called Daredevil, not Matt Murdoch, Attorney at Law.

Even though Murdoch was and is a vigilante and battled the Kingpin and others they finally got the big guy with the legal system because they knew that vigilantism wouldn't work in the long run.

Maybe if David E. Kelley had made it, that's how it would've gone. (I'd still like to see him tackle She-Hulk)

I think, though, as fireproof78 said, now that they've got the origin story out of the way and once Nelson and Murdock are established as a legal firm, they may spend a little more time in the courtroom.

Foggy needs to be in court to justify more screen time with that mean girl he's sleeping with.

Marci was fun. :)

Did you write this with a straight face?

To answer your question, no.

They turned Minority Report into a cop procedural, and look how that turned out.

Which is funny because he was only Daredevil for about 2% of season one. ;)

Even counting the black outfit, Matt Murdock had way more screen time in a suit and tie than he did in his fight clothes.

I used to yell at a friend that he should read Daredevil.

"But I don't like his Superpowers."

"It's not about his super powers, it's about who he is as a person, and who his enemies are as people."

"But I don't like his superpowers."

:(

I've since given up on this person.

He is an ape.

But DD has the coolest powers ever!

Also, a Catholic superhero... Which, for some reason doesn't bother the notorious Bill Maher wannabe like me at all...

Nah, on a second thought, fuck Bill Maher...

Yeah... Your friend is a douche.

When I say "friend", it's a polite word for "Family".

It's harder to cut family out of your life than friends.

I loved this rant someone makes, might have been Stiltman, about Matt Murdock Attorney at Law: "Why ain't you hiding!? Why ain't you running?! Everyone knows that you're Daredevil, it was in the ####ing Newspaper!! You are not normal! There is a target painted on your face and not only do you not care but no ones got the balls to take the shot. No one!!! Everyone is petrified of you, and what you'll do next and what you'll do to them if they make you mad! Congratualations! I give up! You win! I'm leaving New York! I don't want to be a Supervillain anymore!"

(Or words to that effect.)

^

I'm going to go with the consensus view here - and say there really is no need for courtroom scenes in Daredevil. There are literally millions of Law and Order episodes I can watch to fill my need for courtroom scenes, so I am good.

Well, i consider his time in fighting clothes and black bandana as Daredevil time so there go your 2%

Hell no, the show is called Daredevil, not Matt Murdoch, Avocado at Law.

FTFY

:lol::lol:

I loved those college scenes between him and Foggy, really shows how and why they are best friends.

Which is why when Foggy discovers Matt's secret identity and loses all faith in him is so goddamn good and heartbreaking (and so well acted by both actors, Matt breaking out in tears gets me every time.

If the people making the show want to add more courtroom to future seasons, I'd be fine with that. However, being in the courtroom isn't the way most lawyers spend most of their time, and Daredevil was !@#$ing perfect.
